about.

Elaine Schimek, originally from New York and now based in Portland, OR, channels her extensive experience as a graphic designer into her current fine art practice. She combines striking layouts and vibrant colors with engaging stories inspired by urban and landscape themes.
Acrylic paints align perfectly with Elaine's energetic approach. To achieve depth and texture beyond what a brush can offer, she crafts her collage papers using mono-printing techniques on rice paper. Often focusing more on color than composition, she curates a palette that reflects a distinct time and place, stirring emotions that evoke nostalgia or spark visions of the future.
